Volunteer Opportunities

FullCircles-Ottawa is always seeking positive, creative, community-minded and environmentally aware people to join, strengthen and sustain our team and act as hosts, mentors, developers and stewards in the Ottawa-Eastern Ontario / Western Quebec area.

• Communications / Social Marketing Specialist to promote the Full Circles idea and local FullCircles / gifting groups: online; through local print and electronic media; etc. Prepare press releases, PSAs, media backgrounders.
  
  
• Blogger / Historian / Raconteur to sift through daily transactions; identify
  and record interesting gifting events worth saving for posterity and worthy 
  of "cloning". Contributes thoughts on the FullCircles "Around in Circles" blog. 
  
  
• Day-to-day Facilitators to review and approve new subscribers to the Ottawa FullCircles community; monitor postings for problems and refer
  members needing assistance to buddies / mentors.
  
  
• Mentors to coach and help members improve the quality of their FullCircles experiences by suggesting improvements/changes in postings to the group; teaching members how to decide who should get their stuff; coaching members on managing the high volumes of email that FullCircles groups can generate, coaching members in good stewardship practices (eg. minimize driving).
  
  
• Event Planner(s) to invent, plan, and organize FullCircles events, including monthly meetups; tailgate "free-for-alls"; plant exchanges; events eg. Ottawa Eco-Stewardship Fair, Waste Reduction Week, Earth Day/Week; Buy Nothing Day, etc), and activities in your own neighbourhoods.
  
  
• Membership Development focuses on strengthening community; member engagement, member retention, new member recruitment. 
  
  
• Java Specialist / Programmer to extend and develop the mapping tool we created to visually display FullCircles, Freecycle, other 'gifting' groups, and useful community resources (communitywalk.com/map/84)
  
  
• Graphics Specialist to develop visuals to support the group and group activities. Logos, visuals, etc. for website, printed materials, branded items.
  
  
• Fundraiser to determine financial requirements for group sustainability and to identify methods of raising required funds, eg. branded materials, 
  charitable foundations, governments, etc.
  
  
• Advisory Board Members to look ahead and provide leadership to the ongoing development/sustainability of FullCircles, Ottawa.

  
  
• Any other activities you can do that you think would make FullCircles better and more active.
